A Utilyx Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is an innovative solution created by Utilyx which enables large end-users to gain access to renewable energy from UK based developments. Due to its unique structure, a Utilyx PPA can operate over a much longer time period than is typical with a supplier based PPA, creating certainty for both the customer and the developer over the long term. With mechanisms that allow prices to be either fixed or floating the energy secured via a PPA can be on favourable commercial terms to both consumer and generator, helping to stimulate additional renewable energy in the UK.

Our PPA procurement services are designed to help you with every stage of the process from identifying your requirements, through to securing your agreement and then managing the performance of the contract over time.

PPA ready contract procurement
The Utilyx PPA requires a flexible procurement contract with your supplier. It also requires some significant changes to enable the electricity generated within your PPA to be netted off against the rest of your portfolio demand. Our PPA ready contract procurement process ensures that your requirements are correctly identified and presented to suppliers in the form of a “bid request” which we’ll prepare for you. We’ll then assist with the analysis of commercial terms and also help you finalise your amended supply agreement with your supplier.

PPA search, screening and assessment
We will search and screen for projects that meet your buying requirements. We have established a strong network of independent generators and developers. The projects that we represent span all established renewable technologies including, wind, solar, biomass, and anaerobic digestion. Within the Utilyx PPA team, we have specialists in each of these technologies so we are ideally placed to apply our expertise and market knowledge on your behalf. When projects have been shortlisted we help you to assess their commercial value considering not only the value of the energy but also the treatment of any associated benefits such as ROCs, LECs, REGOs and Triads.

PPA management
We continue to support you in the management of your PPA once it is live, performing a monthly check on data volumes and prices. We also ensure that any associated benefits receive the correct treatment and are transferred correctly. We provide ongoing support in the negotiation of any recurring elements with both generator and supplier and maintain your account in the OFGEM register.
